Brave New Voices 2016

Hi BAMily <3

Please help our youth get to Brave New Voices! Just click the link and read their story...you won't regret it!

2016 BAMily!

Wow, what a year! We held an incredible slam every month, had new poets join the family, new faces join the open mic and poets who have aged-out join the Board of Directors. We are so thankful for 2015. FOR ALL OF YOU! The poets, the audience, the supporters...we couldn't have done it without you!

NEWS! In November we had our finals and welcomed our new team members to BAMily 2015/2016. It was a great night, with a packed house and some of the best poetry we have ever heard! Please welcome: (From left to right) Faith Paré - Maymuna Mohamed - Twoey Gray - Jaylen Stark - Cassandra Myers (Captain) - Regan Campbell - Lindsey Drury aka Londzo.

MORE NEWS! Just last night we had our first ever Women of the World's Qualifier slam! You heard us right, BAM is now a certified NPS, which means we can send a representative from BAM to all National events! This year, BAM's representative for WoWPS2016 will be the lovely Londzo (middle)! Cassandra Myers took second place and Maymuna Mohamed took third! Thanks to all the wonderful ladies who shared their stories with us last night, you guys all slayed!  (by the way, that's four generation of BAM you are looking at...how incredible!!!)

Thank you so much for making 2015 a great year for BAM! We look forward to having another incredible year in 2016 and seeing all of your beautiful faces in the New Year!

BAM! 2015 Youth Team Fundraiser

We are the BAM! Toronto Youth Slam Team for 2014-2015. Our team consists of many talented poets, some of which are new to the scene and some who are seasoned champions. We are also excited to announce that we will be competing at the largest international youth poetry festival, Brave New Voices, being held in Atlanta! This is the 4th time that Toronto is being represented at Brave New Voices, and we look forward to showing the world what our city is capable of. We are also competing at YouthCanSlam - the Canadian National Youth Slam - with the intention of bringing the national championship back to Toronto. With the help of our coach Patrick De Belen, we plan on making a lot of noise this summer and to help grow the youth spoken word scene in Toronto, and even Canada as a whole! This is a dream come true for all of our poets and we would appreciate any help you can provide to help us get there!
